Field Safety Specialist Position Overview:
We are seeking a qualified individual for the role of Field Safety Specialist in the electric sector. The selected candidate will be responsible for providing area-level safety leadership within an assigned region. This position reports to the Area Safety Manager or another designated senior manager in the department.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety Leadership:- Foster a positive safety culture within the assigned area, embodying and applying core values such as safety, quality, integrity, ownership, service, and teamwork.
Audits and Reporting: Conduct area and job site audits based on event trending, lagging/leading indicators, and safety needs identified in collaboration with other department Senior Managers.
Injury Management: Coordinate injury management through relevant channels and assist in establishing area injury management resources and relationship building as assigned.
Training and Instruction: Assist with training instruction and scheduling as directed by the Regional Safety Manager, participate in parent company-level safety audits, and coordinate corrective actions feedback.
Incident Investigations: Participate in AAR calls relevant to events occurring within the assigned area. Assist with root cause identification, investigations, and case management.
Compliance and Reporting: Coordinate, manage, and respond to safety audits as directed by the Regional Safety Manager or other department Senior Managers. Report daily safety experiences and inaccuracies to the Regional Safety Manager.
Miscellaneous Responsibilities: Complete monthly expense reports, ensure timely notifications for serious events, and undertake any other assigned responsibilities by the Regional Safety Manager or other designated senior manager.
Qualifications:
Experience and Certification: A minimum of 5 years of safety experience and OSHA 500 certification or other accredited safety certifications (CSP, ASP, CUSP, CHST, CSST, CSHO). Alternatively, a minimum of 3 years of verifiable experience and a bachelor's degree in a safety-related curriculum.
Knowledge: Maintain and enhance overhead and underground electric safety knowledge.
Travel: Must be willing and able to travel within the region.
Professionalism: Maintain professional interaction, appearances, and communication at all levels of the organization.
Continuous Development: Continued professional development and relevant certifications are preferred.
Driving: Adhere to approved safe driving behaviours, following all applicable rules and regulations.
Availability: Willingness to be on-call 24/7 or as assigned after hours, weekends, and holidays.
