​Renewable Energy Company, an organization specializing in large-scale solar and battery energy storage projects, is seeking a Project Developer to bolster its renewable energy initiatives. The Project Developer will oversee all stages of the development process, starting from site acquisition through commercial operation.

Ideal candidates should possess the following qualities:

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate efficiently within diverse, dynamic teams, influencing others through a strong work ethic to achieve ambitious goals.

  • Outstanding skill in balancing technical expertise (timelines, engineering studies, legal compliance, etc.) with soft skills, effectively communicating complex technical details to various audiences.

  • Capacity to engage in discussions with individuals holding different viewpoints, comfortable in diverse contexts.

  • Preferred expertise in renewable energy, energy markets, financial models, real estate, and sales.

  • Experience in client-facing roles, negotiation, exceptional communication, interpersonal skills, and empathy.

  • High self-awareness, humility, and enthusiasm in tackling challenging situations and embracing new challenges.

  • Strong communication skills across written, spoken, and visual mediums, including public speaking to large audiences.

  • Proficiency in spatial awareness, mapping, interpreting maps, narratives, and plans for diverse situations.

  • Quick decision-making ability, weighing trade-offs, and mitigating project risks.

  • Leadership skills to manage both internal and external teams in developing project materials, timelines, and deliverables.

  • Intellectual agility, curiosity, excellent analytical skills, and a problem-solving mindset.

  • Capacity to prioritize work, recognizing opportunity costs in decision-making.

  • Willingness to seek help when necessary, focused on the end goal and prioritizing actions accordingly.

  • 2-5+ years of industry experience preferred, particularly in renewable energy development, project finance, management consulting, or operational leadership.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Project Management team using relevant software tools to communicate project progress.

  • Utilize GIS and databases to identify project opportunities, creating materials for landowner outreach.

  • Handle lease and option agreements negotiation, working with legal counsel.

  • Manage project interconnection processes with the Development Engineering team.

  • Lead local project permitting processes, engaging with local officials and stakeholders.

  • Manage consultants for permitting, including legal, engineering, and environmental experts.

  • Oversee environmental reviews in conjunction with the Development Engineering team.

  • Assist the Finance team in evaluating project taxes and lead abatement negotiations.

  • Lead due diligence for project financing and sales.

  • Travel requirement up to 50%, often on short notice.

Location

This position is stationed at the headquarters in a Virginia location. Negotiable flexible work setups are available for eligible candidates.
