Are you a seasoned professional with expertise in real estate acquisition and land management? RO is looking for a Land Manager to play a pivotal role in the acquisition, due diligence, and administration of site control for both greenfield and brownfield land in various regions of the United States. As a member of our dynamic land acquisition team, you will be responsible for building and managing a land pipeline to support an ambitious GW-scale solar and storage project objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Managing greenfield land acquisition activities to secure site control for utility-scale project development.
Identifying, managing, and supporting land acquisition consultants across multiple regions.
Coordinating with project developers to lead our in-house land analyst team in identifying and qualifying land, conducting outreach, and assessing landowner interest.
Supporting attorney reviews during site control agreement negotiations.
Identifying and nurturing inorganic growth channels that lead to land acquisition opportunities with earlier stage developers.
Assisting in the review of title commitments and title curative work.
Facilitating the acquisition of curative requirements, which may include SNDAs, crossing agreements, mineral waivers, affidavits of non-production, and more.
Initiating title and curative work on parcels controlled through lease or purchase options.
Maintaining KPIs for the land opportunity pipeline, tracking the effectiveness of landowner outreach, conversion rates, and cycle times to align with the development of a multi-GW pipeline of PV, hybrid PV + storage, and standalone storage projects.
Collaborating closely with Project Finance, Engineering, and Development teams to validate the land acquisition strategy and project economics.
Maintaining open communication with landowners throughout the development process to keep them informed about project status, on-site survey timing, and access.
Qualifications:
Extensive practical experience in managing real estate acquisition, land, and title matters, permitting, and community outreach.
Technical proficiency in GIS, mapping, Commercial Relationship Management (CRP), and land/lease management software.
Experience with land acquisition for large acreage renewable project development is highly desirable.
Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
Strong leadership and collaboration skills.
Experience using GIS tools to evaluate land.
At least 4 years of experience negotiating lease and purchase option agreements, with experience in utility-scale solar leasing being particularly advantageous.
At least 3 years of experience in title and curative matters.
Knowledge of land-related community and local government affairs to support local use permits.
