What your Role is
As an Interconnection Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our renewable energy and storage projects across various regions within the US, with a specific focus on Texas. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing interconnection and market support to drive the growth of our renewable energy and storage business.
- Preparing, submitting, and managing generator interconnection requests, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Conducting power flow analysis, reviewing models, and interpreting studies to determine potential upgrades and associated costs.
- Collaborating with utilities and external consultants to coordinate, review, and interpret interconnection and transmission studies.
- Developing strategies to enter new markets and selecting preferred zones for greenfield development.
- Maintaining a thorough understanding of key congestion issues across various ISOs/RTOs.
- Supporting the M&A team on transmission, interconnection, and congestion issues, contributing to due diligence activities.
What skills you will need
To excel in this role, you'll need:
- A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in competitive generation, consulting, or ISO/RTO environments.
- Working knowledge of interconnection processes and market structures across various ISOs/RTOs.
- Proficiency in load flow analysis tools such as GE PSLF, PowerGEM TARA, PSSE, or PowerWorld.
- Experience with economic analysis tools such as PROMOD, Gridview, or Dayzer.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
